Etched Pumpkins

make me happy.

So, for those of you who were playing along on Monday...yes, mine was the 'Kitty Cat.' I actually loved all four of the pumpkins, my choice for the winner was the 'Moon and the Bats' but it was 'Farmer Adel' that took the top prize.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

After all the trick or treaters have come and gone, turn off your lights and watch Sleepy Hallow...scary and sexy...brilliant!

Acceptance

makes me happy.

One day I figured this out...

Everyone knows what is best for them and are doing what they can with that knowledge, at any given moment in time, to live their best life.

Once I learned to ACCEPT where anyone may be on that journey - it became really easy to love everyone.

Being A Team Player

makes me happy.

Yes, I know Kevyn makes a fantastic Justin Timberlake from Dick In A Box.

But what would Justin be without Andy? Eh? You see what I'm saying about being a team player?

Now I don't want to over do it with the commentary today...

as I thought you all might have fun adding your own captions and titles...

to these random shots from last night's Halloween Party.

This one, in particular, cracks me up...

while this one makes me wonder, "Who is Punjab Square Pants and what's on his roll of film?"

Also, I wanted to let you know there was a Pumpkin Carving Contest...

and when this shady guy tallied the votes...

and I was NOT the winner!

Was I robbed? Which pumpkin would you have voted for?

Wonder-ing

makes me happy.

You don't need to have red boots to channel your inner Wonder Woman...but it doesn't hurt.

Neon Bible

makes me happy.

As in...

1 - the Arcade Fire album

2 - this photo, in which my religion, LOVE, is glowing

Side Note - Kevyn is, by no means, the only place I see LOVE glowing, but he is, without fail, the most frequent place I see it.

Grapes

make me happy.

The journey was brilliant. Lunch was delectable. And now, without further ado...

Vineyards...

and barrels!

Rieslings...

and cellars.

Philosophies...

and patience.

Cab Francs...

and best friends.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again and again...

life is good.

Figuring It Out As We Go Along

makes me happy.

My initial suggestion for this day trip was to rent a limo with a large group of friends, travel from Toronto to Niagara-On-The-Lake, tour some wineries, taste some wine and be home early enough to still have a productive Monday.

Of those asked, some had Open Houses, others were in Vegas. Adel and Al were in, but they were going to head up Saturday and stay over till Sunday for some romantic time. Sammy was down, but three does not a limo ride make. Hmmm...inspired by my resent viewing of the Darjeeling Limited, I suggested that the three of us take the train and hook up with Adel and Al when they were done being romantic in private.

And off the train we were and, in my opinion, to early to interrupt romantic time.

What to do until then...

visit The Falls of course!

It has been many years since my last visit to Niagara Falls and I simply don't remember them being this magical.

Curiously, I have a reoccurring dream where I stumble upon a lush, green, mossy park with a magnificent river run down the center of it. Not an action packed dream, this one is memorable because the energy of the rushy water and growing greenery creates an unmistakable feeling of joy.

Needless to say, The Falls brought that dream, and more importantly that joy, rushing back to me.

And then Al and Adel were done...and we were off.

Look! Barrels! I knew they didn't need us to rush!

Still, although you are seeing flutes of sparkling wine...

and flights of sauvignon blanc...

after working up our appetites, each in their own way, the primary purpose of our first stop...was to get our EAT ON!

Trusting that, no matter where the day took us, we would be surrounded by that delightful feeling of joy made the journey Easy Like Sunday Morning.

Even Before The Main Event

makes me happy.

It was only a few days ago that I did a post about 'enjoying the journey' and here I am, five short days later, living the dream.

Kev took this photo, of our leisurely walk to the subway, at 7:30am Sunday morning. Although both Kevyn and I had worked the night before AND lied in bed, for an hour, laughing hysterically about our many Tarbending Stories...

we were still all 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' on only a couple hours of sleep.

You might think our morning walk turned scary here, when Kev got pulled into the neighbors graveyard by the lurking zombies, but no. Nothing was scary until we reached the LOCKED doors of the subway!!!

WHAT THE...?!? We needed to check-in at Union Station in less then 25 minutes and calling a cab at 7:40 on a Sunday morning equalled certain ruin.

While sprinting home from the subway, we concluded our only option was...

SUPER MOM!

Have I ever mentioned that we bought the house next to my parents? Well we did and they do...just about anything we ask.

But that, my friends, is a whole other blog, all about how I won the Parent Lottery.

I only had to ask her once to pretend we were in the Amazing Race before she cranked herself some Sirius Gold...

picked up Sammy...

and dropped us all off at Union with a minute or two to spare.

And here we are! Comfortable, refreshed and ready to enjoy an hour and a half of commanding views and cut-throat cards.

On a side note, these branded VIA Rail coffee cups...

make me happy. It gets my 'Must See The World' gland all fired up!

Our stop? Niagara Falls Canada! It's only 10:30am and we've hardly begun.

From the first photograph to the last, 180 minutes of my life expired. Fortunately for me, I was able to turn those minutes into memories. Boo ya!

To be continued...

Photos For Smiles

make me happy.

Today I simply needed to post a photograph that made me smile.

It's been a really busy week for me, not that I mind because I love what I do, but my days have been full and a little bit rushed.

Even right now, I need to get my butt in the shower, make and eat my Big Salad, make my dinner to bring to work, tidy the house and most importantly...get my love makin' on. I have exactly one hour and forty two minutes to get it all done.

So I'm rewarding myself with this funny photograph which says to me...

* your life is hilarious
* your friends ROCK for posing in a bathroom with you
* good job on your busy week
* enjoy your big plans for Sunday

What are my big plans for Sunday? Well you'll just have to come back and see on Monday!

Clouds From Kevyn

make me happy.

Last month I posted a photograph I took of myself walking through the morning fog, Clouds On The Ground, I called it.

Today, on another early morning walk to the subway, not only were there more 'clouds on the ground,' there was Kevyn and Cashius there to share them with me! The only thing missing was my camera.

And then, upon my return, I opened up my computer to find this beautiful photograph smiling back at me.

Kevyn took it for me with his camera phone. He's becoming quite the photographer with this camera phone of his and has now begun posting these little gems on his own page. Go check them out, his link to the right, under 'Doing His Thang' or simply click here.

Thanks for the clouds baby.

Counting The 'Travel Time'

makes me happy.

If we tally only the 'destinations' of our lives as significant...then what exactly do we consider the other 99% of life as?

Count the travel time...enjoy the journey.

A Day For Listening & Creativity

makes me happy.

On Sunday afternoon, Kev and I decided to head down to The Distillery District...alone. Well, with each other but, alone as a couple.

At times, our schedules get quite busy and days off are easy to fill, by the way of a romp with the family or some tomfoolery with our friends. We're very lucky that way.

Yet there comes a time, always, when Kev or I will say to the other, "How about just the two of us today?"

And that was this past Sunday.

Two extraordinary things usually happen when I'm alone with Kevyn.

Firstly, I get the chance to listen. I sit back and open myself up to any thoughts or ideas that Kev wants to share. I don't judge him and I try not to jump in with my own opinions...very often. I simply listen to understand what he's expressing and allow him to feel my acceptance of him as a person.

Secondly, I get creative. Around every corner there is a brilliant shot to be captured and with every step I take I gain the confidence needed to make my 'Self-Timer Photography' as entertaining and engaging as possible.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking my creativity begins to flow when I feel Kevyn 'accepting me' the same way I'm 'accepting him,' without judgment.

Our day also included beer, chocolate, wine and oysters.

Followed by an evening walk...

with Cashius,

to pick up some pizza from down the street.

Perfecto!
