Winter Sun

makes me happy.

We had a light dusting of snow fall last night and when I woke up and saw the morning sun dancing across the bough, all I could think was 'I need to get outside and enjoy this magical moment!'

So Cashius and I, hooked up with Adel and Jacky, for a glorious walk in the park.

The fresh air was just what the doctor ordered to help cure my 364th day of the year celebration hang over!

We were actually celebrating Yvonne, on the right, being home from LA for a couple of days. Brandi, on the left, lives in Toronto...just like Kev and I, yet we haven't seen each other since the last time Yvonne was in town! In my opinion that's just not cool and I'm thinking I need not take our locality for granted.

We were also celebrating Kev's NFL something something Pool picks. All I really heard was 'we're going out to dinner baby' and that was good enough for me!

Happy New Year everyone!

Embracing Holiday Mode

makes me happy.

Kev and I have really hung loose this past week.

I feel very at ease with that...which is important when taking some down time.

After all, nothing kills a buzz faster then guilt.

More Of The Same

makes me happy.

Since the big party on Friday, we've been...

relaxing and enjoying the view...

from the hot tub,

until the sun goes down...

and then we eat cheese, drink wine and play Wii or Hearts with our nearest and dearest.

Tomorrow, I'm hoping for more of the same.

Merry Christmas.

The Calm Before...

makes me happy.

Tonight Kev and I are hosting a party...

to celebrate...

my favourite day of the year!

December 21st is...

my sister, Kelly's birthday...

The Winter Solstice,

which means from today onward the day's are going to get longer...

and longer...

it's also Aunt Shirley's retirement...

and, of course, Christmas Time!

It's gonna get funky people.

December Mornings

make me happy.

Today was my last day of work for a week.

I would say it feels good... except, it's felt good all along.

Great, actually.

What I will say though is... let's get funky!

Being Here Now

makes me happy.

Life is very busy for me right now. Period.

Last week, when I went to jump on the subway, I realized I had finished my latest book and had nothing new lined up. No biggie, I thought, I'll just re-read one of my favourites.

And so I grabbed The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Wow!

Reading this book again is, most definitely, the best gift I could have given myself.

I could go on and on and on about all the life changing lessons offered in the book, but I could never state them as eloquently or effectively as Eckhart, so I would suggest you read it for yourself.

What I would like to remind everyone, who is equally as busy as me, is that 'time is an illusion' and '...the present moment is ALL you ever have. There is never a time when your life is not "this moment."

In which case...we should cherish it and enjoy it.

Christmas Sweaters

make me happy.

This past weekend...

Dave, Kevyn's older brother...

hosted Christmas for their side of the family at his place.

As a restauranteur and a sommelier, I was thrilled to be invited because I knew Dave would create a party in my mouth. But there was a catch.

To gain entrance to the feast...

a Christmas sweater was required!

Here's what I think about Christmas sweaters...they're hot. No really...they're literally smokin' hot.

Luckily I chose one with a zip front for easy removal. That way I could cool myself down before I stuffed myself full of this enormous slice of carrot cake. Smart girl.

We also did The Annual Cut-Throat Christmas Exchange, during which I thought I was going to bring these beauties home with me...HA! They were stolen away from me within a minute. I'll just have to make do with The Planet Earth box set. Boo hoo.

Christmas...what's not to love?

Food & Drink

makes me happy.

Last night Kev and I parked the car, jumped on the subway and headed out for some fun exciting beverages as promised.

I wish I could tell you about each wine...

and the course it was paired with...

unfortunately everything is a little fuzzy to me right now.

I do know everything was dee-lish...

and the sommelier who took care of us certainly knows her stuff.

Although this photograph was taken last night, it's safe to say, it's today's beverage of choice.

Green Tea On The Go

makes me happy.

I know. I know. By day four of Beverage Week I'm sure you're expecting something more exciting then Green Tea On The Go.

The reasons for today's beverage are two-fold.

Firstly - It's Christmas, which means it's GO Time! Early mornings, late nights, gifts to buy and presents to wrap. Although I'd love to kick back on the couch, watch the snow fall and sip away at a big mug of Hot Chocolate, right now, time will not allow. Over Christmas Gretta...I promise.

Secondly - Kev and I are treating ourselves to a night on the town this evening, which will more then likely mean many, many fun and exciting beverages later on. In preparation, we're getting our healthy hydration on now. We simply don't do hangovers very well anymore.

A Tim Hortons Coffee

makes me happy.

I would call myself a moderate coffee drinker. I enjoy a cup on Saturday mornings with Adel & Al or over at my parents house. And I'm not opposed to drinking it on Sundays, especially if someone spilt a little Bailey's in it. But during the week I try and go without, unless I'm feeling particularly tired.

Today I was tired.

As I'm sure you can recall (or scroll down to catch up), that I went to bed as speedy as possible last night as both Kev and I were working a VERY early gig this morning.

I took the shot above around 6:30am. That was SOME of the juice that needed to be tabled for the 1800 or so people that were about to enjoy a Christmas Breakfast on their way into the office this morning.

That's right 1800, which meant a lot of juice, muffins, croissants, danishes, waffles and coffee.

Above, I captured Kev plating some of the 2000 pieces of baked goods...

and here, we find him resting with the last tray of danishes...

before we began loading all those, now empty, pastry boxes into the freight elevator...

which seemed to have a mind of it's own, as seen here when we tried to go down one floor but ended up twenty four instead...

until all was said and done and, what seemed like, half of downtown Toronto was happy and fed.

And so, on my way into work tonight I picked myself up a medium coffee, two milks one sweetener. And that, my friends, is when a little love from Tim Hortons tastes the best!
