Planning A Perfect Month

makes me happy.

When I look at this shot I see a girl who felt great! I had just arrived in New York for a fun little weekend with Kelly & Adel. Leading up to the trip I had been doing tons of yoga, eating lots of spinach and getting plenty of sleep. After all, it's New York! They deserve to see The Best Stacy - Stacy Can Be, no?

I know what I need to do to make myself feel great.

I'm constantly giving myself daily, weekly and monthly challenges. Things like - do yoga Monday thru Friday, no alcohol except Thursdays and Sundays and chocolate only twice a week.

When I find challenges the end up making me feel good, I stick with them.

Now, what I'd like to do for the month of February is make a list of all my best challenges, the ones that I know make me feel my best and fulfill every one, with no slips, for the entire month.

What do you think of that?

Anyone want to play along?

Someone To Watch Your Back

makes me happy.

Although Cashius outweighs Shushee by about 50lbs, I'm sure she's mighty grateful to know Shushee's looking out for her during their afternoon nap.

Never under estimate any of the angels in your life. They come in all shapes and sizes.

The Simplest Things

make me happy.

Life to me is like a big, warm, bubble bath.

It feels good. It smells sweet. And it is visually captivating.

When you really get into it all feelings of bitterness and memories of fear simply wash away.

Having a deep love for life makes enjoying a cup of coffee in a diner with Kevyn feel just as magical as walking down the aisle to marry Kevyn.

Forty Years And Still Going Strong

makes me happy.

Last night Kelly & Sandy invited us over to celebrate our parents 40th wedding anniversary.

I could lie and tell you we sent the entire evening reminiscing about years gone by and articulating the virtues of a successful marriage but...

we was having lobsters! Which meant we were busy acting like lobsters...

visiting the lobsters...

playing with the lobsters...

practicing eating the lobsters...

and, of course, kissing the lobsters.

Exhausting, I know!

Not to worry Sandy. We'll host their 41st. Pizza anyone?

Bye Bye Pink Walls

makes me happy.

Last night Kevyn and I finished removing the last of the pink press board covering our basement walls.

It feels great to be moving forward with the basement renovations as we haven't done much down there since this...

Be sure to pay attention a minute and twenty two seconds in when Kev clocks me in the eyeball. Don't feel bad about laughing at me, I think it's quite hilarious

Apres Ski

makes me happy.

Following the rush of taming all the green square runs...twice, nothing keeps the buzz going better then...well, a buzz.

Guinness, curly fries and jazz hands - that's what I'm talking about.

Some hot tubbing...

and Polar Bear Dips...

lead naturally into some pizza and Rolling Rock.

And when a competitive game of Cranium ended with Kevyn being crowned Humdinger Champion of the World...

he got real fired up!

Waking up the next morning we felt...ready to do it all over again.

The moral of the story is this...we all lead busy lives. Emma is busy running her own business. As an up and coming real estate agent Dave is makes himself available to his clients 24 hours a day. And Kev and I, well obviously we're busy running a couple of the best blogs out there. So when we decided to take this ski trip we knew it had to be a short one, 32 hours to be exact. In which case one might wonder, 'is it worth it?'

The answer my friends's ALWAYS worth it.

Hitting The Slopes

makes me happy.

A couple of weeks ago our friend Dave...

sent Kev and I an email asking us if we wanted to go skiing with him and Emma and buy a condo in Las Vegas.

We replied "Would love to go skiing - let's book something in Ellicotville..."

"and we'll need to think about the condo in Vegas."

So while we were whooping it up in New York...

we decided owning a condo in Vegas was a surefire way to gain our Cool Badge...

but after seeing my moves on the slopes, Kev was quick to point out that I was doing just fine for Cool Badges.

One Little Monkey Jumping On The Bed

makes me happy.

Kevyn and I just returned from a couple of days of skiing.

As you can see, it wasn't any fun at all.

Flowers Trees & Moons

make me happy.

When Kevyn and I first began dating he brought me the most beautiful bouquet of fresh cut flowers. For the next year or so Kev continued to bring me flowers every time the previous bundle died.

He recently picked up that habit again.

I began my Sunday appreciating the newly opened buds and the man who provided them.

In the afternoon we went to visit the tree that was planted in honour of our friend Lenworth who passed away in 2005.

I'm not sure what the real temperature was, but I might call it...'It's so cold I think my tits are going to fall off.'

I know Len is touched that even that kind of chill won't keep us away.

And at night, a cool blue moon filled the sky and with one look - life comes into perspective.

A Day With Kevyn

makes me happy.

I'm interrupting my previously scheduled program of Food Week to bring you this special edition of A Day With Kevyn.

Thursdays are a lot like Sundays in that Kev and I are more often then not - off OR if we are working, it's usually together.

So after doing some Yoga together and having some sideways lovin's, we headed out as a family for Cash's afternoon walk.

In the evening we worked a lovely little event for a couple who was holding an open house for invited guests to stop by and appreciate their art collection.

Words cannot express how fun working these events are - especially when I do them with Kev.

The air was crisp (freezing) and the snow was fluttering (blowing) which made our after work hot tub that much more enjoyable.

A couple games of cribbage before catching the season finale of Weeds topped off a most perfect day.

And then this morning Cashius made this face. And that is all.

Some Soup In My Spinach

makes me happy.

Soup is my favourite winter lunchtime meal.

And spinach is easily my favourite food...all the time.

So I try and add it to...everything.

Although I would prefer to have homemade soup everyday I'm just not that organized...yet. (We all need dreams.)

So I'll add a can of low sodium, chicken, veg or tomato based soup to a pot of spinach.

There is no need for toast or crackers as all that spinach will fill you right up.

Anyone buying what I'm selling?

Keeping The Pipes Clean

makes me happy.

Shortly after I enjoy a piece of fruit I'm ready for my bran.

I have no problem with the taste of bran cereal, in fact I think I kinda like it.

But what I like even more then the taste is the way it keeps my digestive system functioning.

And how's that, you're asking...well, very, very well.

Enjoying a bowl of bran with Kevyn in the morning is like digging into a plate of Oh Yeah! with a side of Goddam!, 'cause in a world full of eights...Kev's stacked to the nines.

makes me happy.

Blame Oprah and Bob Greene for the food posts you will be seeing over here this week because they really got me thinking about how not hard it is to eat sensibly.

Well them and Suze, for writing about friends who forget to eat?!?

So here I am, yoga done, fresh from the shower, reading my favourite blogs and about to enjoy my first foods of the!

Packed full of vitamins C, A & E this zesty little bundle of potassium is 50 calories well spent.

Doing What It Takes

makes me happy.

Well, Bob Greene was on Oprah today, banging on about The Best Life Diet and it always gets me thinking about weight loss, health, nutrition and exercise.

So, for those of you who were looking for Bob Greene but happened upon me instead, allow me to toss my two cents in about the this beefy issue.

Diet and weight loss in my humble opinion is a mental game. In this day and age we have MORE then enough information about what constitutes nutritious food, we can roughly calculate the appropriate amount of calories per day for ourselves with a couple of clicks of the mouse and we all know it breaks down to calories in vs calories out, so you best get moving around if you want to eat...anything.

And knowing that, I'm thinking you either want to live pain free, for a long time, with vitality or you don't.

If you don't that's okay, but be honest with yourself. Stop beating yourself up everyday with the Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda Bat and get back to eating and relaxing. But please...please - no complaining about your weight, your health, your pains or your lack of energy.

On the other hand, if you've decided your health is important to you let me share with you what's worked for me... slowly step away from the scale and get your head in the game.

I welcome your comments on this one.

Total Gratitude

makes me happy.

I'm very lucky, in that I've been experiencing feelings of gratitude from a very young age. And not so much for things, as much as for people, love, trust, health and peace.

I think that's what happens when you have amazing parents. I don't know if they were doing it consciously or not, but my parents always brought out the best in me. When I'm around them I always feel confident being The Best Stacy - Stacy Can Be.

It's like when they're with you, they're really with you. Pointing a big huge spotlight on you and letting you know it's okay to shine.

When I took this photograph a couple of days ago, it was just my mom and I heading out to walk the dog. There was something about the way my mom was reflecting the light from the sun so effortlessly off her face, complimenting and contrasting those dark clouds that made me think...I hope I make her feel like there's a spotlight on her when she's around me.

In fact, I hope I make everyone I come into contact with feel like that. Confident and comfortable enough to be The Best Blank - Blank Can Be.

I can think of no better way of giving back and expressing my total gratitude.

Rotating Push Up Thingys

make me happy.

The way I feel about lip balm is equal only to the way I feel about push ups.

I'm really into them.

As an athlete all my life, with a degree in Kinesiology and a Personal Trainer certification I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, if I was limited to one strength training exercise for the rest of my life it would be push ups!

I have so many variations of push ups that I can easily turn 5 sets into a full body work out.

Needless to say, I was one happy girl when Kev brought these spinning things home the other day.

Lip Balm

makes me happy.

I'm a lip balm whore.

I must apply - after I wash my face, before I apply lipstick, after a shower, before I walk the dog, when it's really hot outside or very cold. A whore I tell you.

Our friend Rob has a theory that once you become a user your lips forget how to moisturizer themselves and you will inevitably become an addict. He won't touch the stuff.

What do you think? Is he on to something?

Rolled Like A Jelly Cake

makes me happy.

Kev and I seem to fancy lovin's on the bed sideways.

I have no idea why.

Other then, wrapping ourselves in the comforter like a rolled jelly cake afterwards is simply delectable.
