Groovin'

makes me happy.

You know when a cat plops it's self down on the ground...

and starts rolling back and forth...

flipping from side to side?

My mom calls that groovin'.

Here's hoping you all find some time for groovin' this weekend!

241

makes me happy.

Back in February, Deepak Chopra's The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire, fell into my lap - care of one amazing husband who is always there to support his wife's recently acquired addiction... reading.

One evening that February, on the subway home from work, I read the chapter Role of Coincidence which begins with...

To talk about coincidences as coded messages from the nonlocal intelligence makes life sound like a mystery novel. Pay attention, watch for clues, decipher their meanings, and eventually the truth will be revealed.

followed by a little bit of...

Once you can see and interpret the coincidences, your path to fulfillment emerges.

and kept me hooked with this...

And the more unlikely the coincidence, the more potent the clue.

Needless to say, I was digging it. So when I reached my stop, closed the book and stepped onto the platform, you can imagine my senses were heightened.

"Where's my signs?"

"Show me the sign."

"I'm ready for some signs!"

At first nothing popped out at me. There were the bricks and the yellow stripes. The advertisements and the escalator.

And then... as I walked up the stairs... laying there all by it's lonesome... pink as a baby's bottom... BOOM! A transfer with the numbers 241 jumping out at me.

241? 241? What could that mean. For months I've been trying to find my connection to the number 241.

Well ladies and gentlemen, today is my 241st blog and let me just say, so far the day has been filled with the most wonderful, personally tailored lessons, about myself and life in general, that I needed to be conscious for.

I clued in last week that today was going to be the my 241 Day, and boy, am I glad I did.

I had no idea what was going to happen today but, having the foresight to be present, awake, alive and conscious, allowed me to learn things today that I otherwise would have never been able to... and the day's only half over!

I like this game... let's play it again.

Oh, and the photo?

I just love that smile.

Change

makes me happy.

I know there are a few themes, ideas or theories that I bang on about all on this site, and yes, change, is one of them.

I believe change is one of our greatest allies on our happiness journey, for it allows any situation to swiftly shift from bad to good...

with a simple change of perspective.

A Kindred Spirit

makes me happy.

Cashius had a girlfriend over this weekend.

Oreo!

She really wanted Cashius to play with her.

Cashius was so-so on that idea.

But little Oreo was not taking no for an answer.

I could almost hear her channeling the likes of John Quincy Adams -

"Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish."

I also kinda thought I heard her quote this Japanese Proverb on one of her run by's...

Fall down seven times, get up eight.

Here I think she was all like... 'You know Cashius...

The greatest oak was once a little nut who held its ground.'

And she believed Edison had it right when he said...

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

After all, Oreo knows..

There is no telling how many miles you will have to run while chasing a dream.

Ah, persistence!

Yeah, I'm never throwing in the fun towel either Oreo.

How About Us

makes me happy.

Kevyn is the DJ of my life. I think he has great taste in music and a knack for pairing the perfect song with every precious moment.

Last night, pictured above, we did a little bar hopping tour.

Today, we did a little slipper shuffling safari around the house, wallowing in the effects of last night's festivities.

Feeling kinda poop - y, I was heavy-hearted when Kev left for work tonight, until he called and blared this into the phone for me.

Hope it was as good for you as it was for me.

Keeping It Simple

makes me happy.

Gary Zukav says, 'Humble spirits are free to love and to be who they are.'

Although I completely agree with his sentiment, I think it could be simplified even further.

Humble spirits are free.

Skin

makes me happy.

It was a chilly 6pm on Monday evening when the last of our friends bid us farewell, the sun broke through the clouds and the little league-ers came out to play.

The scene was set for the perfect End Of The Long Weekend Hot Tub Session For Two.

That was, until I lifted the cover to crank up the heat and got spray in the face by a geyser erupting from a knob on the top of the tub?!?

Yeah, the hot tub, she was working hard this weekend.

Once the geyser was tamed and the tub was topped up, we were chilled to the bone and left with only one option...

the classic, When Life Hands You Lemons, Enjoy A Bubble Bath For Two.

Sweaters

make me happy.

Yup! It was that kind of weekend.

From Saturday night, when your mother-in-law's winter coat seems like a perfect fit...

to Sunday afternoon when we had to lure people outside with the promise of food,

the pool remained empty...

and the fire place popular.

Even Monday found us wrapped in blankets and sporting toques...

and still, friends came to visit, cards were played, laughs were had and life was, and always will be, beautiful.

May Two * Four

makes me happy.

The lawn is cut...

and the tiki hut is level...

and the long weekend in upon us!

Opps! That's what the August long weekend looks like.

Up here in Canada...

the May long weekend (May two-four)...

usually looks more like this.

Either way, you know we'll have a blast.

But, if you'd like to see more skin then sweaters here on Tuesday, send out the sun vibes for your friends up north!

Happy long weekend everyone.

Lawn Day

makes me happy.

Taking care of this much lawn can, at times, feel overwhelming.

Yet the feelings of gratitude, for having this much lawn to look after...

and a dad and dog that like to help out, always make it seem to make it feel, that much easier.

Souls Of Sunshine

make me happy.

I know I talk about the weather A LOT on this site. I also know why.

I love writing about things that connect us. Things that remind us we're all in this together and we're more similar then different. And the weather, just happens to be one of those very things.

So here I go.

Rain. You may remember, it never use to be my favourite, but over the years Kevyn managed to change my opinion. And as the years go by I'm finding new and more personal ways to appreciate it.

Most importantly though, I now know that sunshine is a state of mind that I can enjoy 365 days of the year.

As Long As He Wants

makes me happy.

My husband likes to sleep... a lot.

So much in fact, it became one of the only bones of contention within our relationship.

But, if there is one piece of advice that I never hesitate to share with my lady friends it's...

DON'T NAG!

Not only will you immediately become horrifically unattractive to your mate, even worse, the sound of your nagging voice may make your own eardrums bleed.

Instead of nagging, find a solution.

And my solution to Kevyn's sleepy ways?

Sleep as much as you want. Eight, nine, ten hours? No problem. But when you do get up I want you to be awake. Be present. Be excited for the day. Be conscious.

Ah, solutions!

Someone To Put Me Back To Sleep

makes me happy.

I have this thing...

where I wake up in the middle of the night...

and get mad at the TV.

Thankfully I also have this guy, who sleeps next to me, to calm me down and ease me back to sleep.

As concerned for my well being as his is, Kevyn will often recap the previous night's TV Terror with comically robust enthusiasm. Which leads me to believe, that I've become more entertaining then the movies he watches.

Another win/win situation.

Girls & Greek

make me happy.

Last night Emma...

picked up Adel & I...

so we could all hook up with Sammy...

to eat some Greek food and, most importantly...

catch up with CLARE!

Whom we love so much...

and haven't seen in quite some time...

which meant there was A LOT to say.

And that can be very thirsty work... if you now what I mean.
