The Manatees

make me happy.

This morning on Sunrise Earth we joined the manatees in Homosassa Florida for their 7am rituals.

This is what I got to say about that... screw the dolphins, I wanna swim with the manatees!

Long Hot Showers

make me happy.

We keep our house fairly chilly for a variety of reasons. I don't love the sound of the furnace constantly running, the dry air it produces and the all the dollar bills it burns up.

Apparently I don't mind spending dollar bills on heating water because taking long hot showers during the winter months is one of my favourite things to do.

It's just the getting out part that I have a problem with. So much so, in fact, that when Kev asks me when I'm getting out I'm always quick to tell him...

It's cold and there are wolves out there!

This is also a useful way to keep others in the shower with you.

You should try it.

Being A Peeping Stacy

makes me happy.

Sometimes, when Kev walks Cash for me in the morning, I like to have my tea while doing random exercises in front to the window so I can watch them in the park.

It's the little things folks.

Uncle Harry's Stuff

makes me happy.

Kev and I had plans of spending the whole afternoon in the workshop.

The fire was glowing and I was just about to close my Macbook when I came across a content sale, featuring retro furniture, about 20 minutes away from us. It only took a couple words of encouragement from Kev before I was en route.

Well 3 trips and 3 hours later, we are now the proud owners of a whole bunch of Uncle Harry's old home-wares and furniture.

It was like all these beautiful pieces were speaking to me. Telling me they still had so much more life to live. And I told them I would listen.

Be sure to visit us over at the Salvage Gardeners to see what they had to say.

6:57 This Morning

makes me happy.

This is what my world looked like upon wakening today.

It immediately made me think 'Ahhh, here come the holiday season.'

Or as Kevyn so eloquently put it 'So I guess summer's official over?'

The Hunter's Moon

makes me happy.

I have a little bit more to say on yesterday's topic.

I don't want you to think that everytime I share my feelings with Kevyn I expect him to change his behaviour.

Sometimes, I believe the right thing to do with the information you are provided with about someone's feelings is to simply say 'I understand what you are saying and I can empathize with your feelings but I want you to know my intentions were not malicious.'

After all, be it a full moon or just a particularly sensitive day, we all have moments when our emotions get away from us and can't go around expecting everyone to change their behaviour to suit the lunar calendar.

On a side note : did you know one study found dog bites were twice as common during full moons? You betcha!

15 2 15 4

One of my greatest moments of enlightenment came about last year when I discovered that my feelings were just that... mine.

Before this realization I used to find myself getting caught up playing the high drama game 'You're Making Me Feel...' with other people.

Let me assure you, this is not a two person game. We are all, 100%, responsible for our own feelings.

Now, having said that I want you to know that I'm still a huge proponent of sharing your feelings with others be them good, bad or ugly. But remember to share them as yours.

For example, I might say to Kevyn, 'I feel hurt when you make fun of the flat spot on my head in front of our friends.' Here I'm recognizing they are my feelings not feelings I'm accusing him of making me have.

But, I am providing him with information.

What he decides to do with that information is completely up to him.

And that's how I figure we establish who to spend our precious time with. The people who do right with the information they are provided with.

Or as Oprah might say 'When we know better, we do better.'

Bottom line, there are games worth playing and others that aren't.

Now cribbage, she's a worthy one.

A Surprise Day Off

makes me happy.

I was suppose to work yesterday. I didn't.

No, I didn't play hooky, my boss was making cuts on Saturday night and I was all about it.

So, what did I do with my newly found time?

Walked the dogs for an hour and a half with Emma and Adel.

Exercised in my living room while Kev and the boys watched football in the basement.

Enjoyed the smell and anticipation of the Dirty Football Watching Dish Andy was preparing that I was now going to enjoy as well.

Cut and pasted magazine clippings into my binder of inspiration... for HOURS.

Dug into the Dirtiness, relaxed in the bath, had an evening walk with Kev, drank some Kim Crawford, watched The Amazing Race and danced in the living room.

Oh what a Sunday.

Thanks boss.

Knowing Her Price

makes me happy.

Sushee was our cat, but as Kevyn's allergic reactions to her worsened over the years she moved next door to live with my parents.

Apparently my folks fill the role of doting servants better then we ever did and hence, she's never looked back.

The only way I can bait her into our house for a little visit is with the lure of drugs.

Good ol' catnip - keeping the family ties alive.

make me happy.

By request, I'd like to share with you one of my other favourite exercises.

Two foot hops!

Since the pool closed, I've been doing 33 (3 sets of 11), five days a week when out and about walking the dog.

Oh yeah.

Focusing On My Assets

makes me happy.

When it comes to working out and staying in shape I'm a firm believer in focusing on your assets.

It is my opinion that most women focus on the parts of their bodies they don't like or want to change. Hello people! Law of attraction?!?

Me, I love my back, therefore, I enjoy targeting my core. By now we all know it's impossible to spot train any one specific body part, so when I workout to maintain my back muscles, I will in fact be working out my entire body.

Your choice. Begrudgingly head to the gym because you hate your thighs, or hit the yoga mat to emphasize your already tiny waist.

Either way your whole body will thank you, but by thinking about it this way - your spirit will thank you too.

Something New

makes me happy.

Kevyn and I began this site, albeit not in the Blogger format, back in the summer of 2005.

Aside from our dream of making the world a slightly happier place and providing ourselves with a creative outlet we both felt strongly that if we put ourselves out there, doing the things we love, the universe would reciprocate with similar energy.

Rest assured, the Law of Attraction works, and the experiences, lessons and gifts we have received as a result of putting ourselves out there on this blog are all the proof I'll ever need.

With that in mind, Kevyn and I are excited to announce the launch of another site!

You'll have to visit to find out exactly what we're up to, but the photos above should give you a small indication. Don't hesitate to leave a comment letting us know what you think.

So here we go again, doing more of what we love and putting it out there for the Universe to do with it what it will.

Our Peacemaker

makes me happy.

Kevyn and I are working on a new little venture.

I'll tell you about that tomorrow.

Today, the afternoon was spent in the workshop (read - garage) working on it.

As you can imagine, as with any new venture, we are having our fair share of tense moments and harmonious moments.

Does anyone else's dog do this during the tense moments?

Kinda helps put things into perspective, no?

Imagine if we all lived with such tender hearted peacemakers?

How We Roll

makes me happy.

"When all's said and done, all roads lead to the same end. So it's not so much which road you take, as how you take it."

November 6th 2008

makes me happy.

Today is Adel's birthday...

and while Kevyn and I had a list, an arm's length long, of things we wanted to get done today...

the idea of a birthday walk, with her, Al, Sophia...

Cashius and Jacky, trumped it all.

As if that weren't spectacular enough...

on our way to said birthday walk, Stories In High Fidelity was killing me (in a good way) on Sirius.

Totally jazzed on Obama's win, they were spinning nothing but positive, up beat, motivational music like this...

and life was perfect.

I'd like to say,

I can feel the positive energy flowing from our friends down south...

and it feels wonderful.

So - I hope I was able to express here how magical today was for me, but if I hadn't, maybe...

or this, will convince you.

I love America.

And happy birthday friend.

The 'New' View From My Desk

makes me happy.

This is not the first time I've shared the view from my desk with you, remember?

Different vantage point... same hot husband.

This Morning

makes me happy.

Kevyn and I are huge fans of Discovery Channel's Sunrise Earth series. Mostly we play it while doing our morning Yoga routine but it's also perfect for simply kicking back, relaxing and getting in touch with Mother Earth.

Coincidentally, the sunrise here in Toronto just so happens to pour into our bedroom window. I love it when the warm sun beams wake me up in time to catch the majesty first hand.

Usually I'll peel back the curtains and take in the view from the comfort of my bed for a couple of minutes before rolling over to enjoy another wee bit of sleep, but not this morning.

No this morning was something special. So special that I jumped out of bed, found my camera and ran out onto my front lawn, looking like the crazy woman I am, all so I could capture the magic to share with you.

I done did good, yeah?

Cloud Nine

makes me happy.

I recently saw Bill Maher's movie Religulous.

For me, it was a laugh out loud kind of movie. Not so much for a good friend that I sent to see it. That's alright, it began a very interesting conversation between us.

I am not into any particular organized religion. I believe there wonderful messages in ALL religions and choose to live a spiritual life based on all of the books, passages, gospels and scriptures which have spoken to me, each in their own way, about living a life filled with joy and compassion.

So this friend and I got talking about heaven and hell.

He believes they exist in the afterlife. I do not.

I believe they abide within our minds.

Hell is living for your ego.

Heaven is living without your ego.

Proving my theory doesn't interest me. Turning a simple chore like raking the leaves into a heavenly experience does.

In which case, I would title this photograph from yesterday - Cloud Nine.
