Knowing Any Old Excuse Will Do But Not Using One

makes me happy.

We experienced some warm sunny weather a few days back and Kev got it into his head that he wanted to give the car a good cleaning.

Well, the first chance he had to make some time in his schedule turned out to be a cold and rainy morning. But guess who pulled out their winter jacket and got 'er done anyway?

Oh you sexy beast!

Gettin' her done like this reminded me of the chapter in Ernie J. Zelinski's book - 101 Really Important Things You Already Know, But Keep Forgetting.

The chapter is called, If You Don't Want to Accomplish Something Important, Any Excuse Will Do.

My favourite paragraph in the chapter goes something like this...

Although many people actually believe their own excuses, these individuals don't realize that most excuses serve absolutely no valuable purpose. Excuses are lies, false statements deliberately presented as being true, meant to deceive others and the excuse-makers themselves. Excuses are used to cover up such things as laziness, low self-esteem, and fear of failure.
