Dat Dog

makes me happy.

Cashius has been up north with Kevyn's twin brother Andy, and his girlfriend Krista, since Tuesday.

We've missed her.

Tomorrow morning Kev, The Byrd, and I are going to embark on our first overnight road trip to hook up with them all.

So, there's a lot of packing involved when traveling with an 11 month old.

Just sayin' is all.

Oh, and Byrdie points and grunts "DAT?!?" at everything these days.

Curious little critters these babies are, yes?

Happy long weekend!

Chill Time

It's seems, that all day, everyday, I'm on the move.

Which is not a bad thing, it's just the the thing as it is.

Every now and then, through out the day, I have a deep thought. But, by the time I sit down to write the blog - it's loooooooong gone.

Zoning out at 8pm is my thing these days. Hope you don't mind.

So, about this photo...

Kev snapped it the other morning around 6:30am. I kinda think the kid looks like me.

That might be a first.

Deep. I know.

Unobstructed Views

make me happy.

Sorry I didn't get up a post up yesterday.

These days I tend to do my blogging at the end of the evening. It usually isn't until The Byrd is in bed, we've had some dinner, sat out back for a bit, come inside, and turned on some awesomely mind-numbing reality tv, when I'll open my computer.

Not yesterday.

Nope, yesterday we ran out the door, leaving my father ALONE with TWO crying babies (I swear these two haven't cried at bedtime in months!), raced downtown and slipped into...

our front row seats at The Jay game!

Like front, front row!

One of my most excellent regulars has been offering up these seats of his to me for years and I finally took him up on them as a little birthday surprise for Kev (thank you kind sir).

I'm not going to lie... they rocked.

Kelly and Sandy zipped home after the game to relieve my father (bless his soul) while we kicked it pre-child style...

meandering around the city,

taking silly photographs,

and visiting with some of our besties.

And still home by midnight!

Raising The Roof

makes me happy.

Okay, so it's more like we're installing an entire new roof, but still...

it lent it's self to helping me take one of the coolest photos I've ever.

And then I made a Chicken Taco Salad and admired how well my husband cleaned the pool.

All and all, an A++ day.

Hot Hot Hot

makes me happy.

This summer in Toronto has been hot, hot, hot.

I love it.

It reminds me of being a kid and playing outside with Kelly. I remember the air being so thick and heavy, those buzzing bugs (that I thought were wires buzzing?), and the sun just beating down on us.

Now while I don't like air conditioning, and I understand it's a personal choice, I do get why Kelly and Sandy purchased a couple portal units (I call them The Robots - they make really funky noises) and have been running the shit out Ol' Bessy (the window unit that came with the house - which I haven't turned on in the last two years). It's been hot.

They've also been kind enough to try and turn them off in the evenings and open all the windows because they know how much I like the summer air (I kind of think they're getting into it too).

So all this got me wondering why it is that I like having the windows open and the breeze (or lack there of) mingling in.

Only one word came to mind.

That is all.

Happy Friday.

More Firsts

make me happy.

As I'm sure you could imagine, shortly after I shared Byrdie's first few steps, she became a full on walker.

Well today I share with you another first.

I give you, the first time The Byrd randomly fell asleep on one of us.

Daddy liked it - a lot.

Pretty sure her father has high hopes she'll uphold the Leo mores and rituals he's begun around these parts.

Seven Sundays A Week

makes me happy.

For many, many years, as bartenders, Kev and I lived for Sundays.

Now, while I LOVED the feeling of those Sunday mornings, one day I developed a wee nagging feeling in my gut that told me, 'if I like this day of the week soooo much more then any other day... something is out of balance.'

Know that I do love bartending and working in general (in fact I never imagine myself being retired), in that moment I realized - I need to nurture the other sides of my money making abilities. My creative side, my entrepreneurial side, my thirst to learn something new side. And right then and there, regardless of the possible missteps and pitfalls I may incur, a goal of mine had become, to make everyday of my life feel like as good as Sunday. Working the amount and kind of work that I want to work, and playing the kind of play I want to play.

Well, for whatever reason,

for the last little while...

life has felt just like that,

weeks full of Sundays.

Stuck In The Middle

makes me happy.

Some of you have asked me about how Cash is doing post-op.

Awesome. Her strength and patience are admirable. Every time I look at her I'm reminded how lucky I've been to be her mom.

And these renovations.

These renovations are... mind blowing.

It's like a dream come true,

one that could never,

have come to fruition without my father. The amount of designing, calling, answering, and learning this man has done in the last few months is incomprehensible.

So I'm a lucky mom, a lucky daughter, and as always,

a lucky wife.

Seizing the day

makes me happy.

A little iPhone story about my day today.

...Of Love.

Hello! Goodbye! TK's Choice. (Tauntie Kelly)

The Mayor of Zombieland.

Never Forgotten.

One Splash...

...Deserves Another.

What's This Guy Doin'?

Jail Break.

Hair Cut.

Our Leo.

A little work, a little play. Good times. I think the critters had fun too.

This Summer

makes me happy.

Life is trucking along very nicely over here.

The renovations are coming along fantastically (look for another video update coming shortly).

We're still loving living with Kelly, Sandy & Evan.

And I'm loving the weather in Toronto this summer.

I've wanted to tell you since last week about these burgers I made, along side a big salad with this dressing. Both were terribly delicious and we all shit for days afterward.

Just sayin' is all.

The rest is some randomness I just wanted to share...

good, yes?

Happy weekend!
