A Pizza & Some Mad Men

makes me happy.

I'm staying in tonight. No more parties. That's not true, I'm actually going to another party on Sunday, but it's a daytime party so it's all good. It's the nighttime parties I'm done with. Earlier in the day I was actually considering heading out to another one tonight, and then I got The Byrd down and sat down myself, and that's it, I'm tapping out.

I actually still have some awesome photos to post from another little party night I enjoyed on Wednesday night but my computer is out of space - too many photos.

Is that even possible?

To have too many photos of the people, places and things you love?

Too many parties and too many photos. Hmmmm.

Here's to creating another year exactly like that one!

All the very best to you and yours this new year. Thank you for continuing to visit me here, your comments, love and support.

People That Give Me Food

make me happy.

I'm not sure how you all operate over the Christmas holidays but I for one, don't really like cooking so much. After all, it is suppose to be a holiday, from which I'd like a break from cooking as well please.

Well Christmas eve lunch I was feeling just like that, not in the mood to cook. But still, I didn't want some greasy mess from a fast food joint.

Then all of a sudden it dawned on me, 'Don't I have a tray of frozen butter chicken in the freezer that Michelle from Urban Zest dropped off for me to try a while back? Where is that?!?'

Well it turns out I still did have it but, had forgot about it when my freezer contents were transferred to another fridge when there was a power outage due to the renovations. Ooops and score all at the same time!

I'm sure you know by now I prefer to eat homemade meals, using whole foods, thus ensuring there isn't a bunch of salt, MSG, or preservatives added to what I'm chowing down on. Exactly the same principals Urban Zest lives by. Homemade meals, delivered right to your doorstep, frozen in oven ready containers. Believe me when I say, I think this is a wonderful option for anyone who is pressed for time but doesn't want to sacrifice health for convenience.

And that butter chicken... man did it hit the spot. Soooo yummy!

And then... on December 23rd, one of Kevyn's regular guests at his bar, sent him home with this chocolate fudge brownie CHEESECAKE! Are you even able to comprehend the awesomeness of this cake?

Let's just say it's a good thing I'm not a calorie counter and thank you both so very kindly.

Feeling Full

makes me happy.

Merry merry! Hope you and yours are as full on love, family, friends, food and drink as I, and mine, are.

Since the last time I signed in I've... eaten huge steaks and Billy Miner pie in celebration of Kelly's birthday, and

taken self portraits in the bathroom with the one I love.

Went to the hospital...

to see what Kevyn's older brother Dave, and his wife Joy, have been cooking up for the last nine months...

THIS beautiful bundle of joy! Welcome Keira Ann.

Took two hot tubs in one day,

because, Christmas Eve rocks.

Woke up well before my daughter on Christmas morning because A) I was clearly more excited to watch her open presents then she was to open them, and B) she thought it was the perfect morning to sleep in later then SHE EVER HAS BEFORE.

But she eventually got up and at 'em.

as did Edison.

And it was fun and smiles all around.

An afternoon of toys, Elmo and Nana,

while the table got set and the turkey cooked,

led to a feasts of feasts, that no one escapes fully buttoned.

I know I say it all the time, but at this time of year I think it's even more important to remember, and give thanks to, how much love and happiness I feel on a daily basis.

Here's to spreading it if you feel it!

At Home Christmas Dinner Parties

make me happy.

Yeah, that's right - I got my Christmas party on AGAIN!

This one was a most elegant and delicious dinner party hosted by the most awesome and cool Laura & James.

Oh the decadence. There was sparkling wine and sauternes. Foie and tenderloin. Chiantis and risotto. Port and stinky cheese.

Christmas crackers and party hats.

And best of all, friends, stories, jokes and laughs.

A tip of the party hat to you both...

oh how you spoiled us!

The At Home Christmas Party

makes me happy.

Yaaaay! It's my sister's birthday today - my favourite day of the year!

There she is, looking all beautiful with Fitz and Mr. T at The Gooderham's Christmas party on Saturday.

As I'm sure you've guessed by now, my sister and I are super tight. But it didn't always used to be that way. Oh no. We had our fair share of blow-outs and periods of not talking over the years. That all changed about six or seven years ago. I'm not exactly sure why, but I do know we began seeing eye to eye on some things AND valuing the others' opinion when we don't, and generally communicating like friends who had mutual respect for one another. This has lead to a relationship that gets better and better every single year.

I often have guests at my bar who have daughters with a two year age difference and more often then not they'll share stories with me about the girls fighting and hating each other. I always tell them not to worry, one day they'll find their very best friend in one another.

Happy birthday sis.

Now, back to Christmas parties.

I love 'em!

I especially love Christmas parties hosted in people's homes. The always feel so cozy and intimate.

And I love that I can mess around taking silly photos all night, knowing there's not other guests at another table who think I'm crazy and annoyed by my flash.

I love the fireplace roaring,

and mingling between friends.

I love complimenting a new acquaintances on their boots that are just like your husband's and them telling you "I think they are your husband's because they're not mine!"

I love Christmas trees decorated with roses like only my friend Sammy could do.

And I love Johnny Sunshine...

and Bacon Cheesecake.

That's a lie. I didn't love the Bacon Cheesecake. It actually kinda stuck in my throat and was hard to swallow.

But I do love Emma who made it, The Gooderham's for hosting, and my new buddy Scott's gun show!

Constant Christmas Music

makes me happy.

So Kevyn and I are still basement dwelling. Yes we have our new living room built and have been enjoying it, but still sleeping in the basement. And, there's still the matter of knocking down that brick wall upstairs to join it to the rest of the house, where we will be living one day I'm sure, so I don't want to get too into decorating mode cause that's going to be one very MESSY event!

But we have got our old teak telefunken in the space and hooked up to our Sirius. Which rocks because this time of year they run a couple channels of 24/7 Christmas music.

And you know what? I've been playing those very channels on our telefunken 24hours a day. Which means, every time I emerge from my basement dwelling I immediately get bit by the Christmas bug.

It's give and take over here people. I'm happy to sleep in the basement as long as needed, as long as I can play my stereo like I'm living in Santa's workshop for the next 2 weeks!

Happy & safe holiday partying this weekend everyone!

The Funnest Two Months of The Year

make me happy.

I've got to tell you, I've been staying up later then usual AND more often these past few weeks.

Even going out after work for a drink or two!

And while the following morning is always a little more challenging after being out and about...

enjoying moments like this, during the Christmas season, make it all worth while.

Really, isn't that what December is all about?

And August too, right?

My Oldest Friendship

makes me happy.

Yesterday Charlotte invited Byrdie and I out for some breakfast at the Grenadier Cafe in High Park...

and a brisk walk through the winter zoo.

I've written about my love of High Park before,

here, here...

AND here.

But have I told you lately how much I love Charlotte's mom Marla?

Friends since grade 2 and still finding news ways of making me smile.

Awesome.
