Adventures In Grocery Shopping

makes me happy.

Doesn't it all become so much more exciting when...

we call it an adventure?

In Funny Company

makes me happy.

Last night Kev and I had the pleasure of joining Chris and Vicki for dinner in celebration of Vicki's birthday.

We dined at the legendary Barberian's Steak House here in Toronto,

and to call the wine cellar impressive you'd be doing so as you were to awe-struck in the moment to come up with a more eloquent word to describe the majesty of the room.

The food was bang on,

full of flavour and robust, paired seamlessly with perfectly balanced wines.

And still nothing, and I mean nothing, compared with our company for the evening.

Man, did we have some laughs last night.

Caring For What We Got

makes me happy.

I found this New York Times article the other day via Cup of Jo and totally could relate to what the author was saying about how having more stuff means caring for more stuff.

Which could also mean - living less life.

Her Growing Independence

makes me happy.

Today when I picked Byrdie up from pre-school I waited patiently outside the classroom, watching her gather her gear and dress herself to head home.

Let me tell you, the process of her dressing herself is as delightful as the final result (see above).

Smiling ear to ear I was.

38

makes me happy.

My plan for today is to have as much fun as possible AND get the house cleaned.

What I like to call Birthday Bliss around these parts!

The Things That Come Out of Those Little Mouths

make me happy.

This afternoon Byrdie was wrestling with her grandfather and about to nail him in the back with an elbow drive when I piped in and sternly told her, "Be gentle."

She stopped, looked me straight in the eye and asked,

"Why? Because he's your father?".

Well, at least I know she's getting a handle on the ol' family tree.
