Smiles, Sunshine, and Sand

make me happy.

My little Stevie still likes to get up early.  Even on vacation.  And by early, I mean, like, pitch black early.

The awesome part about this was that I was always able to secure chairs by the pool AND the beach before the sun even began to rise.

Which was something I kind of forgot was going to happen until...

I actually witnessed it happening.

So silly, right?  But true!

The sun would crest the horizon, my breath was taken away, and gratitude would washed over me.

Forever, and always, it will be the simple things in life that blow my mind.

Nine Years of Routine

makes me happy.

While we certainly weren't sticking to a hard and fast schedule while on vacation, I still did find it useful to fall into some sort of daily routine to keep the things humming along nicely.

For us, that routine shaped up something like; Chris would get up in the morning, go have her morning tea, enjoy her book and the morning breeze in the courtyard while we wrestled the kids out of bed and into some clothes.

We'd all meet for breakfast and then Chris would take the girls to play in the park or go for a morning swim.

Kev and I would divide that hour alone together between the room (7 minutes) and...

the espresso bar (53 minutes).

Talk about gratitude that my husband, on this, our 9th wedding anniversary, still wants to spend 7 minutes alone in the room together with me EVERY.  SINGLE.  DAY.

Lucky girl, indeed.

And then really,

after that part of the daily routine was nailed...

it was a...

a free for all!

Until 4:30,

when we'd usually end our day...

by the beach bar,

soaking in the magic light.

Who doesn't love magic?

Cuba 2014

makes me happy.

We just returned from our first family vacation down south in Varadero Cuba.

Without a doubt, it was a fabulous trip.

Kev's mom, Chris, joined us.

A word to the wise, if any grandparent ever offers to join you on vacation, always answer with a resounding, "Yes, please!"

It was wonderful spending time with together and she was a huge help.

I also want to make note that you can never pack too many bathing suits, sundresses, or undies when traveling with kids.  I like to slip off their wet bathing suits whenever they take a break from the pool or ocean and that seem to compound the necessity for all three.

The break from the coldest winter Toronto has seen in years truly made me...

jump for joy.

But nothing beat...

just being together,

messing around,

hanging out,

and smiling.
